Marco Island's Historical Church

Marco Island Historical Church was finished in 1939 and was the first church established on Marco Island. This church rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most important historical markers on Marco Island.

Carol Kipp, a Marco Island schoolteacher, took on the monumental task of establishing the first church in Marco Island. After holding Sunday school classes from her home, visiting pastors urged her to build a church. Caroline and her husband, both from modest backgrounds, had to turn to the Marco Island community to realize their dream of establishing a community church. The Marco Island community came together and rallied around Caroline by donating whatever they could; from money, building materials, transportation to labor.

This historical church stands today as a testament to the spirit of giving and selflessness of the Marco island community.

This tiny church was moved to its current location in the center of the island and completely renovated in 2001.

It is a charming and cozy place to have a wedding or renew your vows with a guest list of 60 or less and also a breathtaking spot to catch the warm Marco Island sunset.

You may arrange your wedding or simply rent the use of the church though the New Life Community Church of God, on whose property the historic church sits, by contacting Reverend Thomas McCulley at 239-394-4980.
