Meet the General Manager, Marcia
Q: Tell me about yourself...
A: I’m a native of the New Jersey shore, but lived in Dallas for 10 years before moving to Marco Island, FL about 12 years ago. We had visited here numerous times and fell in love with the island and the laid back atmosphere. I’m married and am an animal lover, so I always love to hear about our guests’ pets.
Q: How long have you been in the hospitality industry?
A: My first exposure to the hotel industry was at this location as a part-time position at the front desk. I quickly learned that handling reservation requests, replying to email inquiries and dealing with guests was also a sales position. It evolved into a full-time position as General Manager over this 19 suite small inn.
Q: What do you like about Lakeside Inn?
A: What I love about Marco Island Lakeside Inn is our guests. We are very fortunate to get the nicest people who choose to visit us! Beyond that, I try to make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. I live on the island and can offer you information about what the "locals" like to do and where they like to eat as well as all the popular visitor attractions. I want you to feel like this is a place you can really unwind and relax away from the hectic atmosphere of the large resorts. We are close to all the places you’d want to visit yet tucked away in a quiet residential area backing up to a fresh water lake with a lot of fascinating wildlife.
Q: What are your favorite things about Marco Island?
A: What I love about Marco Island is the sheer beauty of it. We have over 5 miles of sugary white sandy beaches that are home to over 79 different species of birds. Over 90% of the homes on the island are on canals so it’s a great place for boating and fishing. And if you like dining out, we have about 60 different restaurants on a little 4 x 5 mile island. We are blessed with the sparkling turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico all around us and the cooling Gulf breezes.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of managing Lakeside Inn?
A: When I’m not at the hotel you can usually find me at the beach or at the gym- I love to exercise and also love to spend time with my husband and our animals. I’m an avid reader, so we have a large lending library at the inn from books I have finished. I’ve recently become a vegetarian so I am learning to enjoy cooking for the first time! I have 2 grandchildren who love to visit Marco so spending time with them is a special joy!
Q: What is a popular event/activity guests shouldn't miss out on while staying?
A: While you are here, you shouldn’t miss visiting the Everglades National Park. It’s one of the real treasures of Florida and we are only about 25 minutes away. You can take a short trip on an airboat or a longer tour with the Everglades national Park rangers, but you won’t be sorry you went either way! You don’t want to miss our beautiful beaches and the great shelling opportunities whether you just wander down the crescent shaped beach or go on a deserted island shelling boat tour.
